about Ren Lee, LCSW

pronouns they/he/佢

I am a queer (bi, aro, grey-ace), trans genderqueer/nonbinary, neurodivergent, polyamorous, fat, able-bodied, 2nd generation Chinese American (born to immigrant parents). I was born and raised on the traditional lands of the Canarsie and Munsee Lenape (otherwise known as colonial NYC).

My experiences and work are shaped by my identities, how I create and sustain joy, and community. I find it incredibly fulfilling to continuously build relationships through empathy, curiosity, and compassion. I believe in community care, liberation, growth, joy, resilience, healing, and justice.

my approach to therapy

I am a relational and liberation-based psychotherapist. I blend modalities such as psychodynamics, somatic work, mindfulness, and narrative therapy.

My approach is rooted through anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and decolonizing lenses. We live within various systems and institutions that impact how we navigate our lives in relation to each other. Our identities impact the way we move through the world and understand each other.

For me, therapy is a process and a relationship. I believe in healing through authentic and genuine connection. I am here to invite and support you in exploring connections to yourself, your communities, and the world around you. How can we explore what authenticity looks and means for you?

areas of focus

I primarily work with adults 18+  along the following themes/topics:

  • gender identity, expression, and exploration
  • queerness, including aromanticism & asexuality
  • relationships (including polyamory, consensual/ethical non-monogamy, etc.)
  • sexuality, kink, and BDSM
  • communication & boundaries
  • neurodivergence
  • racial and cultural reflections
  • processing trauma
  • life transitions
  • grief and loss

Please click here to fill out an inquiry form and I will follow up with you.

fees & faq

My full fees are:

individual therapy – $250 for 45 min

couples therapy – $300 for 55 min (for polycules/constellations, please reach out!)

I have limited reduced rate slots, prioritizing QTBIPOC. I do not request pay stubs or the like and simply request honesty and transparency. My rates are set to support myself financially in sustainable ways and to allow me space to support my communities in other ways (outside of therapy).

I offer sessions only via HIPAA-compliant telehealth video through Google Meets, which also offers live captions.

How do I start and what can I expect?

Please reach out to me (ren@harmonyhealing.space) and we will set up a time to have a 15-20 minute call to see if we would be a good fit. If we find that we are not, I support in sending referrals who could possibly be a better fit. If we decide that we are, we set up an appointment time and meet after you complete the paperwork. I hold the appointment slot for a week; otherwise, it will open up as I cannot hold my time indefinitely.

How often will we meet? How long do I need to be in therapy?

I typically see clients on a weekly basis and for new clients, I require this as we build our relationship and I learn more about you. We can reassess later on to see if we need to change frequency of sessions.

There is no set time on how long I work with folks. Some have deadlines due to insurance/work/life changes. Others work with me long term with no set end date. Sometimes, you might realize you want a break from therapy, and that’s okay. We can discuss and figure it out together.

For returning clients, I will do my best to accommodate, but I cannot guarantee availability.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for a 48-hour notice for any cancellations. If it is within 48 hours of the session, the full fee will be charged. I will attempt to reschedule with you, but there is no guarantee.

Potential questions you might ask your insurer:

- Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

- Do I have a deductible? How much is my deductible and has it been met?

- What is the amount covered per therapy session? For individuals, check your coverage for CPT code 90834. For couples, check your coverage for CPT code 90847.

- How many sessions are covered? Is there a limit to the number of sessions covered per year?
